🤲🏼VERSE OF THE WEEK
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake
- Psalm 23:1-3

PS 🍁 This week is also the first official day of Fall, my all-time favorite season. So, break out those flannels, crack open your pumpkin spice everything and get ready to start watching those leaves fall.

PSS 🦦 Happy Otter Week! Once hunted to near extinction in the early 1900s, sea otters are making a comeback. However, their population is still trending downwards so to bring awareness to their vulnerability, this week is dedicated as Sea Otter Awareness week.

* Who are the Schwenkfelders? *
The Schwenkfelders are the descendants of a small Protestant sect that formed in Germany during the time of the Reformation. Originally the group called themselves Confessors of the Glory of Christ after the founder, Caspar Schwenchfeld’s 1541 book Great Confession on the Glory of Christ. They immigrated from Germany to the United States between 1731 and 1737 to escape persecution.
The population of Schwenkfelder followers has shrunk over the years, with only five active congregations with about 2,000 members, most remaining within 50 miles of Philadelphia. The Church teaches that the Bible is the source of Christian theology and is drawn from both the Old and New Testaments. The Church recognizes the wisdom of church fathers, particularly those from the Eastern church.
* Happy Schwendfelder Thanksgiving! *
Two days after arriving in America on September 22, 1734, they expressed gratitude to God for allowing them to flee persecution by holding a thanksgiving service. Because there were no crops to harvest, the meal consisted of water, bread, butter, and apple butter.
The Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving is the oldest continuously observed Thanksgiving in the United States.

We believe there are a great many New Yorkers who would be uncomfortable at best with this proposed composting/fertilizing method, which is more appropriate for vegetable trimmings and eggshells than for human bodies.
